We love Chevies here at JN Chevrolet, although that should come as no surprise to anyone. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, however, has recently won “Car of the Year” from Motor Trend, beating out high-performance challengers like the Audi TT, the Mercedes-Benz AMG® GT S, and the Mazda MX-5 Miata, as well as vehicles on the cutting edge of tech, such as the Toyota Mirai and BMW 7 Series. Despite the competition, the 2016 Camaro came out on top. Here’s why.

All of the cars in the running for the award were evaluated by a panel of nine judges in terms of safety, efficiency, value, performance of intended function, design, and engineering excellence. The 2016 Camaro scored so well in these categories that Motor Trend had this to say about it: “Is this the best production ponycar the world has ever seen? Without hesitation, yes” and “A revelation. Absolutely world-class sports car performance and dynamics from an American icon. The new Camaro is one of the finest driver’s cars in the world. And that’s before you even talk about the price.”

That’s high praise, and when it comes to the 2016 Camaro, it’s well-deserved. This sixth-generation iteration of the iconic Camaro is leaner and meaner than ever before, boasting lightweight architecture to boost its speed, modern tech to keep you connected while out and about, and a powerful engine capable of pumping out as much power as you can handle.
